After four years of outstanding success, the project has now ended and will be missed by charities and voluntatry organisations based in the Derby(UK) Objective 2 wards of Babington, Derwent, Litchurch or Osmaston.

Over the life of the project it managed to achieve...

  • Over 80 groups benefited from the project, achiving the target for the project
  • Over 27 community groups have been assisted which exceeds the target for the project, which was twenty-one
  • Increased the sustainability of ICT amongst local voluntary organisations. This was confirmed in a survey of benefited groups that found 95% of them had permanently expanded their use and knowledge of ICT
  • Many groups now have websites giving them higher profiles benefiting the communities they support and helping them obtain future funding thus making the groups more sustainable
  • Several groups benifited from database consultancy and development helping them produce systems to make their operation more effective
  • Through the provision of one-to-one training and byte size ICT courses various groups have become more aware of the potential ICT application and have become more proficient in its use, giving an expanded and sustainable use of ICT within the organisations
  • The provision of ICT troubleshooting has been a life line without which some groups would have been unable to continue using ICT and hence would have been disadvantaged
  • In an ever changing ICT field the project has helped several groups to embrace emerging technologies, giving them access to facilities were not available to them before, hence helping to combat 'the information gap'

'The service we received from the ICT project was invaluable'

Derby Rape Crisis

'We do not have the capacity within our organisation to enable us to deal with our IT problems in-house. Your services under the project therefore are greatly appreciated. It is important that we in the voluntary sector keep up to date with changes in technology and we therefore appreciate being able to ask you for help and advice.'

Alternatives Activity Centre

'For small organisations such as ours this is a vital service. We could not afford to employ someone specifically as IT support. To be able to call on someone as the need arises is an excellent solution to this problem. I have no hesitation in recommending that this service continues to run.'
